Mercy Regional Health Center

Project Description

Schwab Eaton designed site and landscape improvements as part of a $40 million renovation to Mercy Regional Health Center, a 12-acre acute health care facility in Manhattan, Kansas. Landscape and irrigation improvements throughout the site included foundation and entry plantings, parking lot plantings, and streetscape amenities. Schwab Eaton also designed a small pond surrounded by natural landscaping. The pond, located at the intersection of two arterial streets near the Kansas State University stadium complex, was developed to accommodate storm water run-off, incorporate sustainable features, and serve as a visual amenity. A two-tiered waterfall and floating fountain were included in the pond design. Natural landscaping was used to enhance the pond’s edges and provide naturalized habitat in the midst of intense development.
