Legends-St. Mary Ped-Bicycle Trail

Project Description

Schwab Eaton worked with the City of Dodge City to plan and design this new pedestrian-bike trail. The trail is the first part of a long-range vision of the City to connect key nodes throughout the City and encourage citizens to maintain a healthy lifestyle by walking and cycling to those destinations. The initial trail improvement connects Legends Park on the north end of the City with the St. Mary Complex two miles to the south and east. A school, commercial center, and several residential neighborhoods are connected along the route. The project also provided the opportunity to enhance a portion of the heavily traveled US-50 highway. Trail improvements included grading, major drainage infrastructure, paving, fencing, signage, landscaping, street furniture, and other amenities. The trail construction was largely funded through the popular TEA-21 Program administered by the Kansas Department of Transportation.
