Manhattan High West Campus

Project Description

Schwab Eaton partnered with Gould Evans Architects to design this large-scale expansion and remodel of Manhattan High West Campus. The primary goal was to create a new identity for the school while respecting its heritage. The project will add approximately 70,000 square feet to the existing 250,000-square-foot building. Serving a student population of 1,200 students, the expanded campus facility will accommodate enrollment up to 1,500. Included in the expansion are new classrooms serving science, foreign language, general purpose, business and fine arts, as well as expanded special education and library spaces.

Schwab Eaton worked with the project team to design the site and civil-related improvements including parking; interior and exterior courtyards; on and off-site utilities; and grading and drainage improvements, including storm sewer modifications & additions. Many grading challenges needed to be resolved in order to fit the new building additions to the existing site. Most of the site-civil components of the project are now complete, and the entire project is expected to be completed in time for the spring 2013 semester.
