This large community park has become a significant amenity for Manhattan and was the recipient of a Public Improvement Award by the Kansas Consulting Engineers. Anneberg Park is a multi-use park and sports facility containing the Twin Oaks Softball Complex and Manhattan Soccer Complex. Schwab-Eaton prepared a master plan and developed design and construction drawings for many of the improvements at the park. Major facilities that have been developed include six competition softball diamonds and eight competition soccer fields. A small fishing lake was developed as part of the initial park construction and is an attractive landmark on the city’s west side. The lake was designed to handle storm water runoff from the site. Wildcat Creek meanders along the park's southern boundary and much of the park is in the floodplain. Soil excavated during construction of the lake was used to elevate the sports fields and building pads above the flood elevation. Other improvements include picnic areas, park pavilions, a restrooms/concessions building, playground facilities, tennis and racquetball courts, a 1.6-mile perimeter trail, parking, site utilities, and maintenance facilities.
