Ward Haylett Track at Ahearn Field House

Project Description

Schwab Eaton assisted Kansas State University with renovation of their indoor track and field facilities. The project involved complete removal and replacement of the artificial surface and reconfiguration of the events layout. The new layout increases the number of sprint lanes, includes two permanent shot put/weight throw circles, and provides better separation of events for increased safety and more efficient meet management. Major improvements included a full-pour polyurethane surface, new long jump/triple jump pits, pole vault box, and throwing circles. Testimonial: Cliff Rovelto, Head Track and Field Coach, Kansas State University “We have worked with representatives of Schwab Eaton on the construction of our new outdoor track and field facility as well as the redesign of our indoor track at Kansas State University. With our new outdoor facility we were very concerned with having an outstanding training facility as well as competitive venue. Schwab Eaton worked with us to achieve both desired outcomes. They were faced with a unique engineering concern incorporating a 130-meter include/decline lane adjacent to our competition oval. Our indoor facility is in a building utilized by other sports as well as recreational groups so we are faced with unique space and design challenges which Schwab Eaton handled wonderfully. With both of our facilities we wanted a venue that is equally athlete-friendly for the field event athlete as well as the track athlete. This challenge was met as well.”
