Project Description

The River Pond Area is one of four state park units located around Tuttle Creek Reservoir, and includes several cabins, numerous campsites with electric and water hookups, shower and restroom facilities, dump stations, and a plethora of on-site amenities for outdoor enthusiasts.

The River Pond currently includes eight campsites with electric, water, and sewer utilities which are undoubtedly the most popular campsites in the park, staying booked nearly year round. With the increasing popularity of RV camping, KDWPT noticed the high demand for these limited campsites and the potential to increase the overall utilization of their facilities. This project, not yet advertised for construction, consists of adding sewer utilities and concrete parking pads, as well as upgrading existing electrical and water services, for 40 additional campsites. Engineering efforts consisted of topographic surveys, planning, extensive permitting (U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers, Kansas Division of Water Resources, and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment), and the preparation of construction drawings and specifications for bidding and construction purposes.
